Bottoms up at Blea Tarn

We had a beautiful walk today at Blea Tarn and just made it back down the pass before being snowed in. Bethan was subjected to a nippy nappy change at the edge of the frozen lake, and given the noise coming from her mouth I don't think she appreciated the beautiful backdrop.
Playing in the park

We took a bus trip to Ambleside today as our car was out of action and gave the boys their first taste of rock climbing.
Sledging on the Kirkstone Pass

Having abandoned our car, we had the most glorious day of sledging. More photos on Jon & Hannah's blog.

Probably the most beautiful place in the world ....to break downWith less than a mile to go our car overheated and bleeped many red warning signs at us. We just bleeped many words, abandoned the car ...and went sledging.

Peek-a-boo

Our family in the north

It's been eighteen months since we were last in Cumbria, but finally we managed to take a holiday.

Yesterday we had a lovely walk and the fairies were kind enough to leave some chocolate mini eggs in the woods for James and Daniel on the way, which helped them scale the dizzy heights of Orrest Head.

Happy Birthday Jennifer!

It's been an eventful 12 months. We welcomed young Jennifer into the world, embarked on a huge renovation project and moved house. Poor Jennifer has fought off a lot of competition to get through her first year, but has come through it relatively unscathed.

Here's a
month-by-month look back at her first year.

So much for the DIY...

I have taken a few days off work to tackle some jobs around the house, but I have let myself be tempted by the snow!

This morning Mab, Maisie and I went for a walk in the woods and around the lakes, thanks to special permission from farmer, Mick.

We didn't see much wildlife from the birdwatching shelter thanks to the sound of crashing canoes coming from the other end
of the lake. Somebody needs to tell those guys from the outdoor adventure school for the gifted that you can't canoe on ice!

Snow snow snow!

We have been enjoying a generous covering of snow over the last two
days. Nursery closed early today and rather than brave the hill in the car, we parked at the bottom and walked so that James could sledge down.

After nursery James, Christopher and Emma played and played and played until it was just too dark to play any more. They made a brilliant snow house, but funnily enough none of them were tempted to camp out in it.
