And here comes the straggler...

Despite all the excitement of yesterday, I felt there was a colour missing from the pallet. So on my way home from work today, I picked up Jemima, a beautiful Copper Maran, the perfect addition to our little flock. And somehow five seems the perfect number.

Here come the girls

Introducing (from left to right) Myrtle, Ruby, Polly and Darcy, our beautiful new hens. Myrtle is a Mendlesham Blue, Ruby a Mendlesham Ranger, Polly a Fenning Cou Cou, and Darcy a Fenning White.

James and Jennifer are thrilled with the new arrivals, and I have to say I am a more than a little excited myself.

The battle of the post box

Despite my daily efforts to remove nesting material from our post box, I have had to admit defeat. After checking for post this evening I was about to turf out the twigs when I realised that the battle had been lost.
My post box is now under occupation by great-tits, as evidenced by these little speckledy eggs.

Wing Commander B1 flies in the Virgin London Marathon

James and I ventured up to the big smoke to cheer on Andrew as he reached the home straights of the London Marathon. James was a bit surprised that Andrew had not won the race, and wondered why he had let so many people overtake him. We'll remind him of that if he ever decides to take part... Congratulations Andrew on a sterling performance.

A first driving lesson

In a bid to encourage independence in our children, we gave James and Jennifer their first driving lesson today. With any luck they will soon be able to drive themselves to nursery, giving me an extra ten minutes in bed.

Happiness is...

a sunny day, good neighbours, a cold fizzy drink and four straws.
A blissful sight

Full of fish and chips, ice cream and happy thoughts of playing in the sand, these three tearaways gave us a very peaceful journey home.

Good Friday with the Daveys

After a four hour journey, we finally arrived to a warm welcome at the Davey household. After some manic playtime, James braved the Gruffalo thanks to some hand holding from Molly.

The Englishes

A lovely day was had by all as we visited Ann and Quentin, neighbours from a bygone age when fairy liquid bottles could be transformed into space rockets, and the scariest thing on tv was Noggin the Nog. James and his new friend Noah were very excited to be allowed a play in these two vintage Morgans.

For James it was the next best thing to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and what a dashing figure he cuts in this Caractacus Potts style leather helmet.
