Rags to ringlets

Jenny has been coveting her teacher's long curly hair, so last night we cut up and old pillowcase and ragged her up!

Legoland

In celebration of five birthdays, we paid our first visit to Legoland, with the Northern Burgii, the Grews, the Maycocks and various Bennetts.  It was a day of fun fun fun, with underwater adventures, pirate ships, log flumes, rollercoasters, and lots more besides.
All the children took, and passed, their driving test.  The instructor clearly wasn't paying that much attention as Isaac managed to sneak in a very clever but highly illegal manoeuvre as he sped past James on the inside and hurtled round the corner of this junction at breakneck speed.
This epic adventure was followed by a camp out in the Maycock garden, and various birthday celebrations.  Happy birthday goes to Sarah (a couple of months late, but whose 40th birthday all this was in honour of), Stan (a few days ago), Isaac and Mab (both today).
The weekend also doubled up as an early birthday treat for Dan who will be eight in a few days.  We celebrated with great food, great company and lots and lots of cricket playing.
39 and still handsome! Happy Birthday Mabulous! xxx

Bluebells

The bluebells are at their best, more than a fortnight later than last year.  So we're grabbing every opportunity for a ramble through the woods, where there lies a feast for the senses.

Two wheels!

Last week, at Gilbert's suggestion, we took the pedals off the kids bikes.  After a couple of attempts they were free wheeling down the road happily.  This weekend we took the next step and put the pedals back on.  Both are now cycling happily on two wheels, after just two weekends.  I wish we had done this years ago!

Workbench

It's been a long time coming but finally the shed has a workbench. Built from the left over pieces of wood from the extension there is now no excuse for an untidy shed....apparently.

Allotment

Move over Monty, Grandpa's allotment is back! The machine made light work of the heavy clay soil and there was still time for a world record number of coffee breaks.
There are now potatoes planted, a forest of rhubarb and new tools to tackle the bramble invasion.

Bank holiday sunshine

It has been a glorious May bank holiday and we have barely set foot inside the house.  The paddling pool has been in full use, and Daddy the softy filled it with warm water so the kids have been lolling around in it for hours, enjoying an al fresco bath.

And lunch was served today in the treetop restaurant at a small table for two.
