Goodbye Dearest Mum

It's been two weeks now since Mum passed away and I still can't quite take it all in.  Any moment she'll call me and invite us all round to share a joint of roast beef.  We'll all tuck into her legendary roast potatoes, there will be crumble and ice cream, with caramel topping just for James, and Dad will crack open a lovely bottle of oak aged claret.  We will talk about everything and nothing, at some point Mum will skilfully steer the conversation into the gutter and we will all end up in fits of giggles.

Just a few weeks ago she was in great spirits, looking forward to a visit from the Canadian crew.  74 years young, happy, healthy, independent, she had years ahead of her to watch her grandchildren grow, or so we thought.  But life has just bowled us a curve ball and nothing will ever be the same again.

Words can't begin to express the void that has been left in our lives.  I miss you so very much dearest Mum.

The Hills Are Alive!

Back in the year 1996, I had a wonderful and very memorable holiday in Le Grand Bornand with friends from Venture Scouts.  It was action packed and tremendous fun, and I thought it was worth a return trip now that the children are old enough to enjoy some alpine adventures.  We were joined by Team Lester, and had a blast! Wonderful holiday, we beasted the children almost daily with many beautiful walks up steep things with magnificent views, but threw in a few days of lake swimming, rock climbing and white-water rafting to keep them sweet!  Great holiday, and more happy memories stored in the bank of life.
