Chicken farmers

James and Jennifer tend the chickens in their farmers hats (aka mummy and daddy's rain hats).

A first ascent

A welcome break in the rain gave us a dry (by northern standards) trip up Gummers How.

This is Jennifer's first mountain climb, and after the initial tantrum at having to walk, she embraced the event and climbed all the way to the top and back down again without so much as a sniffle.
In search of snow...

On our first day up north we loaded the sledges into the car and headed for the Kirkstone pass. The snow was falling, but sadly not quite enough for sledging. Enough, however, to scrape a small snowman together, which was then abandoned for this much bigger one some other children made earlier. Then we all bundled into Jon's shelter for lunch and hot drinks.

Spiderman!

This is James on his return from school friend Matthew's "superhero" birthday party.
Ballerina girl

Since reaching the grand age of three, Jennifer has started ballet lessons. Now that she's starting to get over her shyness, she spends her Saturday mornings beaming from ear to ear, skipping about in her ballet shoes and pink leotard. This little girl melts my heart.

Happy Birthday Jennifer!

Jennifer turned three this Thursday, and we celebrated this afternoon with grandparents, neighbours and friends, and a "garden" cake. Happy birthday Jennifer! xxx
Peas

I have had my heart broken by peas these past two years as my seedlings have been chomped by our resident rabbit population as soon as they popped their pretty heads up out of the soil. So today we sowed our peas in a pot, near the house, hopefully to deter those pesky bunnies.
