New toys, new games

This week saw the arrival of a new member of the family, a beautiful old land rover.  So this weekend we took her out for her first tour of the Kent countryside. The mission today was one of treasure hunting, the treasure being geocaches.

Joined by many good friends, we went hunting for caches, armed with iphones for tracking and pencils for logging our finds.  After a successful day's treasure hunting we headed home for tea and cake.  A great day out.

More wintry walks

After a warm Christmas and New Year, we awoke this morning to a glistening landscape.  Jack Frost has finally paid us a visit.  Jenny and I went out on the big wood walk dreaming of snow.

Princesses

After returning home from France James and Jennifer were delighted to discover that Christmas wasn't quite over, as the Northern Burgi were camped out at Grandma and Grandpas house.  There was much squealing, laughter, ripping open of yet more presents and lots of playing.  For Jenny it was the highlight of the holiday as she received her favourite present, her very first Princess dress!

A wedding and four funerals

New Year was spent, once again en France with our good friends, Anne, Simon, Brian, Marita and Al, and our collective six children.  It was an eventful time in which our six year old boy got married to the lovely Amelia in a lavish ceremony with vows, prayers, flowers, speeches and lots of dancing.

This was followed soon after by the death of several of the children as they took turns at acting out the scene in which Snow White takes a bite from the poisoned apple, falls to her death and is put to rest in a glass coffin adorned with flowers.  Fortunately they came back to life for  ice cream wedding cake.  Good times.

Christmas

This may be the last time we get away with enjoying Christmas without getting involved in the cooking, as our extension is now in sight.  The day began with presents, then church, then more presents, then up to the farm for dinner and more presents, a walk up to the

rope swing, a tractor ride around the living room, a game of tippit, then bed.  Thanks to Grandma and Auntie Daphne for a tremendous day, we promise we'll do Christmas one day soon!

...And two days later the presents just keep on coming.  James is particularly pleased with this one from Uncle Matt, which is the epitome of cool.
