Happy Wedding Day William and Kate!











We joined the millions of patriotic royalists today in helping our future king celebrate his marriage to the lovely Kate. Despite being given the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they will surely be known to the world as Prince William and Princess Catherine. Our garden is adorned with yards of bunting and we have been waving flags frantically at the television as the newly weds made the journey from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. As they sat down to their wedding breakfast, we toasted the happy couple with Pimms and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon celebrating with our neighbours and friends, and lots of good food.

Bluebells

The bluebells are at their most glorious now, a couple of weeks earlier than usual due to the hot and sunny weather we have been enjoying. By happy coincidence it is also the school holidays, which means I'm home from work early enough to enjoy them.

Budding musicians

James, Jennifer and Sam were treated to a day of fun at Uncle Matt's school music department. There was strumming of guitars, tinkling of ivories, banging of drums and hooning around naked to the organ music.

Bodiam

Today we have been picnicking, exploring, sword fighting and discovering dragon's eggs at Bodiam with Helen, Steve, Harvey, Oliver, Martha and Frazer. Lovely day.

Boot fair magic

I have just returned from a boot fair armed with goodies for the children bought for next to nothing. A Sunday morning well spent and it's not even time for church yet.

Spring blossom

The cherry tree outside James's school is the epitome of springtime, smothered in the most perfect pinky white blossom. Ron and Bar's magnolia is at its best, and the scraggy old damson trees in our garden are putting on a pretty good show themselves (spot the wasp!)

Tractors and dung

Earlier today, this green monster appeared in a hole in the fence at the end of our garden, making the garden look a bit on the small side, and bringing with it a trailer load of dung and another of bark chippings, which will give our garden sustenance for a year or two. James and Jennifer enjoyed the obligatory tractor ride. Our children lead a charmed life!
